ACCOUNTANT WINS DERBY. HAS PRACTICALLY NO COMPETITION FOR BRIGHTONS CLOSING FEATURE. Salvidcre Adds Winged-Foot Handicap to His Triumphs Jacquin Wins "Again and Davy Johnson Is Even on the Season. New York, August 4. Thirty thousand people were present on this the last day of the Brighton Reach Racing Associations wonderful summer meeting. None has been more successful, and few have shown so many reversals of form or so many sure things turned loose on an unsuspecting public. Two bis: stakes were decided today. Accountant won the Brighton Derby. There was no opposition worthy of the name, yet his genial owner took to the "tall brush," as usual, while the race was on. Thomas Hitchcocks grand two-year-old, Salvidere, earned n gallant victory In the rich Winged-Foot Handicap, conceding chunks of weight all cround. The betting ring was a howling, perspiring mob, Intent on getting wagers down. Everyone is talking of the clever way Jacquin has been manipulated. Lyne rode him on Thursday and he did not show him up. There was no support for Davy Johnsons fast horse on that occasion. He was only qualifying for the cheapest race of the meeting the day following. It Is alleged that his connections won .00,000 on him and that any price, to them would have been a good price. Today, on his third essay, Jacquin made some good sprinters look like a lot of crabs. Davy Johnson Is thought to have recovered the losses of the past season. Sam Illldreth and his friends won a lot of money over the victory of King Cole, which won in stake horse fashion. J. L. MeGinnls has sold to F. W.
