Ballotta smothered her opponents with superior speed, broke from the outside and wore the leaders down on the backstretch, took command on the far turn and won going away under hard restraint. Zelinda began quickly and set the early pace, raced Sweet Flavla into subjection in the first half and had en.ugh left to stall off Merilenes challenge at the end. The latter ran well and outlasted Sweet Flavla in the final drive. The latter ran a good half and tired. Perdition finished fast. Scratched H070 Andrla, 105. Mary Cistia was outrun for the first quarter and, being forded back, had to work her way up on the outside, closed iip with a rush in the last furlong and, catching the leaders In the last fifty yards, outganied Crip in the final drive. Crip worked his way up on the inside on the far turn and fought It out gamely with Alegra all through. Jhe last furlong. The latter began quickly, .sprinted to the front and set a fast pace for a halC mile, but the effort told on her at the end and she tired under punishment. Miss Martha closed a big early gap and is one worth remembering. Moonvlne ran well and finished close, up. Reside was always outpaced.. Scratched C4224 My Bessie, 94; 04220 Chandler, 99. Gilfain moved up fast on the outside on the turn into the homestretch, but swerved across to the inside in the stretch run and cut off Exclamation and was disqualified and second place given to Exclamation. The latter ran in much improved form under lighter weight than he carried in his previous efforts, was in a contending position all the way and was coming fast when cut off. La Londe was away well and raced forwardly throughout, ran in behind La Gloria until straightened out for the final run, wore her down in the last furlong and just managed to last long enough to stall off Martin Doyle. The latter was outrun for the first half, but closed a tremendous gap and. finishing with a rush after making a wide turn into the homestretch, would have won in another stride. La Gloria showed extreme speed and set a terrific pace for six furlongs, but tired in the last sixteenth. The others were badly outrun, but Redwood II. put up a race worth remembering. Voting raced in a forward position all the way, wore Melting; down In the last furlong and finished resolutely under punishment. Eminola. as usual, finished gamejy under punishment. The Borgian went to the front on the backstretch and set the pace, but tired when it came to a drive. George Vivian finished fast after going to the outside on the turn Into the homestretch.
