LA LONDE ESTABLISHES NEW TRACK RECORD. Runs Seven Furlongs in 1:25 1-5 at Fort Erie Port Royal a Real Good Thing. Buffalo, N. Y., August 17, Ballotta, the Keene castoff, was the only winning favorite at Fort. Erie today. The best race of the; day, however, was the fourth. Three out of the seven starters were well supported, Martin Doyle being the favorite and La Londc the second choice.. La Gloria jumped Into the lead after considerable delay, caused by the bad acting of La Londe and Garrett Wilson. La Gloria set a terrific pace and went, into the stretch with what appeared a winning lead. La Londe admirably ridden by WIshard, began to close in on the flying leader and entering the last sixteenth was on even terms with La Gloria where the pair fought it out to the wire with La Londe getting the verdict by a scant half length from Martin Doyle and incidentally hanging up a new record for the track, clipping two-fifths of a second off the old record. The bookmakers here had practically clean sheets on Port Royals victory In the closing race, but It is said tonight that his connections scored a tremendous coup in poolrooms and handbooks throughout the country. Woodcock, the bay gelding, by Pillarlst Plover, was sold In the paddock this afternoon to dissolve the partnership of Duff and Dean, the latter member of the firm purchasing him for 25. J. B. Dunn bought of J. H. Baker this morning at private sale the three-year-old Oratorian, paying ,100 for him. John Burrows sold to M. Burns the bay mare Selected. She will be shipped to Pennsylvania and raced in the "bushes."
