Nealon broke in the rear, but quickly took a forward position, headed the pacemaker on the far turn and came away aud won off pulling up. Watergrass, away badly, closed a big early gap in a flash, ran on the outside and finished a fast going second. Anneta Lady came fast from the rear and 4ot up for third place In the last stride. Jack Dolan was outpaced in the early running, but finished well. Glvohnl Balerio, as usual, failed to stay after a superior display of early speed. Royal Sceptre went well and is improving. Stoic closed up well In the last half. Court Martial got away poorly. Sly Ben showed speed for five furlongs and tired as if short, finished pulled up and looks very good. Herculoid made the running throughout, shook off Phantoms challenges at different points and, when beginning the closing run on the flat, was again seriously menaced by the latter, but drew out and won, very gamely under the whip. Phantom trailed for the first mile, moved up repeatedly after that and finally succumbed right at the end of a superior effort. Gatebell ran forwardly and well throughout and will be heard from. De Mund broke flatfooted on the inside and quickly dashed Into the lead and made the running hard held by a wide gap to the stretch, where he finished easing up and was much the best. Arclte broke very slowly and was handicapped in the early running, but finished with a sensational stretch sprint, was easily second tiest and is a grand colt. Vox Popull, very fit, improved his position rapidly In the middle running and went Into second place when beginning the last quarter, but readiiy gave way to Arcite. Pau-tuonok ran well in hand in a prominent position for five furlongs and then tired, finished eased up and is worth watching. Don Enrique got away very badly and closed a big gap. Aletheuo, on the Inside In deep going, after strenuous early pursuit of the leader, quit iu the last quarter. Marathon broke flatfooted and was shuttled to the rear early. Prince Hampton was never dangerous. Yankee Gun ran forwardly to the last turn aud, after going very wide, tired badly. Lord Lovat ran up into the ruck early and then retired and was eased up. Go Between was heavily bandaged and ran slightly sore and trailed for over a mile and a half, only making a final furlong effort and getting up right at the end under the whip. Sir Huon trailed the leader closely to the far turn, where he shot into a long lead and appeared like winning in the stretch, but succunilied in the last fifty yards, stripped very sore and did not run his race. Samson made the running for a mile and a quarter on sufferance and quickly resigned in favor of the other two when the real racing began. Jocund closed up steadily throughout and finished a fast going second after being repeatedly interfered with. Azellna had a flying start, but was reserved in the middle running and consequently finished well. Woolwich stripped very sore, was excessively urged to dispose of the pacemaker and tired badly right at the end. Lady Ellisou, nearly left, closed a big gap and put up a cracking effort. Wrenne set the early pace, but was shuffled to the rear on the backstretch and badly messed about. Society Bud forced a stiff pace for six furlongs and failed to stay. Celeres Is a rank lr.-and-outer. Conville maintained close pursuit of Grlmaldi iu the early running and, after a sharp struggle in the stretch, drew out to win off by himself. Grlmaldi made the running by a wide gap to the stretch, where he tired badly and is still short. Yankee Girl was outrun, but held a good position for the first half and was closing up well at the end. The others were beaten off from the start.
