Fish Hawk, from a flying start, maintained close pursuit of the pacemaker to the stretch, where he drew up and just won out in a hard drive. Malacca, away slowly and hemmed in In the early running, was reserved on the turn and challenged in the stretch, but just failed to get up. El Dorado made the running for five furlongs and tired, but is promising in such going. Magna Stella, away very badly, closed a big gap and, going like a shot at the end, should have been easily third. El Capitan, nearly left, made up a lot of ground. Roswell showed superior speed for five furlongs, but failed to stay and was eased up at the end. Dominator loomed up in the stretch and then quit. The latter, well served by the leaders exhausting pacemaklng efforts and reserved within striking distance for two miles, joined issue In the last furlong of a grand race under a verv bad ride, being under a pull until right at the end. Paul Jones held a slight lead until over the last jump and succumbed on the tlat after a grand effort and will surely develop into a topnotclier. The others were beaten off from the start. Glamor held a good position and finished wearing the second and third horses down. Paumonok got away slowly and was closing up in the last furlong. Prince Hampton came fast from the rear. Dishabille maintained a forward position all the way, but could never quite get up In a game closing struggle. Tiptoe made the early running and failed to stay after a grand effort. First Mason, shuttled back early, closed up steadily In the last six furlongs, but was evidently handicapped by the going. Entree quit aftar running a good seven furlongs. Deutschland displayed brilliant speed for five furlongs, but tired anil was palpably overweighted, ran a grand race and looked very fit. Brush Up got away ioorly and closed a big gap. Right Royal, after going the first quarter, was always in nearest pursuit of the winner and gamely earned second place, beating the others off at the end. Neptunus held third place safe through the last half. Jocund, away poorly, closed a big gap and finished swinging all over the stretch, or he might have been a contender for third money. Aucassln finished well and "will give a good account of himself on a fast track. Sir Ralph was messed about and finished fast. O. K. failed to stay. Geranium was sore and unfit to start.
