MAY ROWE A SUPPOSED GOOD ONE. May Rowe. the filly by Meddler Auricoma. carded to make her racing debut in the Futurity, but withdrawn, was bred by John B. Madden at Hamburg Place and was the star of the fillies sold by him as yearlings in 1003. C. E. Rowe paid ,500 for her at the auction at Sheepshead Bay, June 23. 1005. She was sent to Memphis last fall, where she was broken and highly tried. She was backward in her trainiug last spring, but reiorts from the east are to the effect that she lias been working well of late. May Rowe has no other stake engagements at Sheepshead Ray. Her yearling half brother, a chestnut colt by Plaudit, was sold at Saratoga on August 14 last, to C. F. Clark for 00. Auricoma. the dam. was a good racer. She won among oilier races-the Lassie and Select Stakes and Senorita and Fresno were among the good ones she defeated. She is the dam of Beaucatcher, Red Fox. Slow Poke. Jueoma. all winners, ami of Golden Rod IL. which produced Silverdale, a racehorse of great speed and quality und winner of the St. Louis Derby of 1001.
