THE CHIEF MONEY WINNING TWO-YEAR-OLDS. Despite a long retirement in the course of which a number of the richest two-year-old stakes of the year were decided. Water Pearl Is still the leader of horses of his age in amount of money won. Usually the two-year-old that wins the Futurity finishes the year well In advance, but it is almost a certainty that Electioneers earnings this year will be exceeded by those of both Water Pearl and; Salvlilere. If either one of this pair carries off the Junior Champion next Saturday, its winnings will at once swell to well past the 0,000 mark. Last year Burgomaster led the two-year-olds with 9,500. It will be observed that this year Water Pearl and Salvidere have already won more. In 1904 Artful was the leader with 7,805, and In 1903, Hamburg Belle, with 7,125, due In both cases to having won the Futurity. Some very. rich stakes for two-year-olds remain to be decided at Gravesend, Brighton Beach and Belmont Park and it Is quite within reach of Water Pearl or Salvidere to excel all the records of r.eeejit years, -or, lu fact, any year since that of Domino, by winning such stakes as the Junior Champion, Brighton Pro-duce and Matron. So far this year thirty-one two:year-olds have won ,000 or more, their combined earnings reaching the imposing total p 20,058.
