Reticent finished with his usual burst of speed after trailing far back for the first quarter, had to work his way up on the outside and came on resolutely under punishment. Court Martial made a good effort when straightened eut for the final run and then fell back. The Belle ran poorly. Dr. Coffey showed speed. Elllcott was reserved in behind Main Chance until straighteaed Out iu the homestretch, then responded gamely to punishment and in the final drive outgamed Main Chance, getting up in the last couple of strides. Main Chance Is a speedy colt and rapid breaker, set a fast pace and did not tire until well inside the final furlong. De Oro began slowly, but closed a big gap and finished with a game rush. Javanese quit in the last quarter after racing well up with the leaders to the stretch. Clnrlie Gilbert seemed dangerous at the head of the stretch, but tired uuder his weight. Glimmer finished fast. Solon Shingle fought it out with Cloten all through the last quarter and outgamed him when the final drive came. Peter Paul ran away two miles after the finish. Berv WaJdell fenced cleanly, was a keen contender at all stages and came away without much effort after Rising Sun fell. Apteryx tired in the stretch run on the flat after being hard ridden all through the last turn of the field. John Randolph is a good fencer and ran a smart race considering it was his first race through the Woodbine field, but tired in the last sixteenth and was not persevered with. Rising Sun had a winning lead when he made a bad landing at the fourteenth jump and fell. Virtuoso ran out at the third and Golden Way fell at the same jump. Opuntia bolted out of the course after taking the sixth jump. Buffer bolted over the fence onto the main track after taking the second jump and Knobharapton fell at the first. Blue Coat was speedy, but his weight told in the last quarter and he tired when It came to a drive. Kilts was sore when going to the post. Demurrer ran well, but tired In the stretch.
