NOTES OF THE TURF. The inagural meeting at Douglas Park was a success. The autumn meeting at Brighton Beach will open tomorrow. A few good jockeys would Improve the racing at Louisville. . The backstretch at Douglas Park is to be widened during the winter. Thomas Hitchcock, Jr. has sold a half Interest In Pater to John E- Madden. The Arkansas State Fair opens, at Oaklawn, Hot bprings, tomorrow. There will be five running races dally. The fair continues ten days. The autumn meeting of the New Louisville Jockev Club will open at Churchill Downs tomorrow it will continue eighteen days. Golden Pearl is the name selected by Mr. J. B. Haggih for his half brother" to Water Pearl, a chestnut colt by Golden Garter Pearl V. Starter Mars Cassidy is to have a rest during the Brighton Beach meeting. A. B. Dade, who made so impressive an. eastern debut at the spring mePting. at this track, will do the starting. Dade is in good form just now. His work at Louisville was up to the handle. Black Oak is the name registered by August Belmont for his imported black colt bv Flying Lemur Black Poplar. Flying Lemur is a full brother to the famous Flying Fox. . Black Poplar is heavily engaged in stakes of the future and his career will be viewed with interest when his time for racing arrives next year.
