Agnes Virginia, away well and showing improved form, was a forward contender from the start, took the; lead after rounding the stretch turn aud, standing a hard drive gamely, outstayed Toboggan. The latter, much the best, was away poorly, closed h big gap and lost because of weak handling in the final drive. Allista.was a sharp factor all the way and will Improve. Auditor ran a fairly good race and litiNhcd fast. St. Noel was poorly handled and ran a good race. St. George Jr. came from" a long way back iu the stretch. Matador, well handled and showing the inost speed, led under restraint for the first half, raced Malleable and Royal Legend Into defeat, but had to do his best at the end to. outlast Bitter Hand and Colonel Bartlett. Bitter Hand, away in a tangle, closed a big gap and, finishing fast, would have won iu a few more strides. Colonel Bartlett, away poorly and badly handled, gained steadily all the way, closed u big gap and was unlucky to lose. Talamuul ran fairly well and was going gamely at the end. Don Domo was outrun to the stretch, but moved up fast after going a half and. saving ground when turning into the stretch, stood a hard drive gamely and outstayed Devout. The latter trailed the others far back in the early stages and closed a big gap after going a quarter and finished fart, but fulled to quite get up. Butinskie, away well, showed the most early speed and led by a good margin to the stretch turn, where he began boring out and lost considerable ground. Omar Khayyam was clear of interference, showed the most earlv wd and ran a good race. Joe Coyne tired after going three-quarters and will improve. Chanlda ran a good race and, with clear sailing, would have won. Postman had a rough trip and can do better. The Gadfly ran poorly and ceased to be a sharp factor after going a quarter.
