A GREAT HORSE TO BE RETIRED. Emperor of Norfolk, the once famous racehorse, and at the head of the Santa Anita breeding farm for many years, is to be retired on account of old age. The greatest son of Norfolk Is now twenty-two years old. The great racer :has not been, the success In the stud so confidently predicted upon being retired from racing. He has given to the turf a number of speedy horses, but has failed to reproduce himself. Emperor of Norfolk is to be succeeded by .Cruzados, which will wind up his racing career at Emeryville inside of three months. The other stallions at Santa Anita at present are Amigo, by Prince Charlie, Felipe Lugo and Ves-suvian. The latter Is a half brother to Geyser, and his youngsters promise to make "good."
