AGILES LUCKY YICTORY. RED KNIGHT CLOSES RAPIDLY AFTER BEING PRACTICALLY LEFT AT THE POST. Lee Harrison H. Is Defeated by Landsman Three Races in Four Days Too Many Miller Rides Three Winners. Washington, D. C, November 23. Miller rode three winners at Bennings today, being successful on Agile, Onatas and Landsman. In the race won by the last named, Lee Harrison II., which won .t race here yesterday, had many suspicious surroundings. He was comparatively neglected in the betting, Notter being up this time, while Millers mount, Landsman, attracted the support of the people. No doubt his three races in four days had something to do with Lee Harrison II.s being neglected today. He ran second, it is true, but a poor second, the 25 to 1 shot Bright Boy nearly beating him out and incidentally showing much improvement. The next time Belcast starts, his performance will be scrutinized with the keenest interest, and it s one of the puzzles of this meeting why he should have been almost supplanted in favoritism by Lee Harrison II. yesterday. Though Agile won the second race, he was the luckiest horse which ever earned brackets. Red Knight was almost left at the post, yet he ran Agile to a scant length at the end. Agile was worked an extra half mile. He is engaged in several Ions distance races here. Oraculum, with Miller up, was regarded as a good thing in the opening race, but he was beaten out by the 8 to 1 chance Zlenap, whicli displayed great improvement. Dolly Spanker went to the post "nod-Irfgryainl"- lu.ttfiaVltbthVVIs not prominent, but closed up fast through the stretch. John McGInnis says , he bet ,000 on Lord of the Vale to win the third race, in which he seemed a "moral," but Millers mount, Onatas, easily took first money, Lord of the Vale "going back" fast In the stretch after setting a by no means fast pace. Even Solon Shingle beat out Lord of the Vale. The latter looked well bodily, but seemed a trifle high in flesh. By far the largest field of the day ran In the sixth race, and this proved a surprise, for A. L. Astes ,Chalfonte beat out Killochan and Scarfell, the latter having appeared all over the winner up to the last sixteenth. Killochan is not a quick beginner, yet he managed to come through in the stretch and fight it out with Chalfonte. Miller was on Cambyses. This horse, however, had little chance in such an unwieldy field. Andrew Mack ran a remarkable race, leaving the post last and running through the field in finest style. The fourth race had only two runners, Cressina and G. L. M. Against tjie latter odds of 20 to I were laid, yet it was he which forced Cressina to run one of the fastest first quarters timed at the meeting. Of course, the outsider could not long1 keep this up and Cressina came home an easy winner. The day was clear and much colder than-yesterday.
