HISTORY OF THE THANKSGIVING HANDICAP. The Thanksgiving Handicap at Oakland has its sixth running today. The similarly named stake to be run at New Orleans today is a new stake. At Ascot Park tbe Jonathan Club Handicap lias been run but once previous today. Good horses have always figured in the Oakland event, that high-class one Claude having won it twice in succession, each time preventing Fossil from being returned the winner.
