GOOD CARD FOR OPENING AT ASCOT PARK. Jonathan Handicap Is the Feature Officials Anticipate No Interruption to the Meeting. Los Angeles, CaL, November 2S. With the Jonathan Handicap as the feature of a good card the Ios Angeles Jockey Club will launch its meeting at Ascot Park tomorrow afternoon. The meeting is scheduled to run ninety days. The officials are sanguine that there will be no deviation from the schedule, notwithstanding that they are yet to fight through the courts the vote by which the racetrack was taken into the corporate limits of the city, the laws of which forbid betting. John Bullman. who spent the summer at the meetings on minor tracks, expects to be in the paddle during the Ascot Park meeting. Bullman has been "on the water wagon" for several months and these who saw him ride during the summer and fall say that he has returned to his old-time form. It is his hope that he will be able to return to the New York tracks next seasou. James Carruthers. who was the partner of Alex Shields at the time the firm owned Advance Guard, is spending the winter at Pasadena and expects to ee much of the racing here. Spence Sutherland, the steeplechase jockey who was suspended here last season, is seeking reinstatement. He is at present at Santa Monica in charge of a trio of jumpers. It is said to be the intention of "Lucky" Baldwin to retire Cruzados permanently to the stud at Santa Anita next spring. His first crop of two-year-olds will race in 1907.
