ZAMBESI TAKES BROOKDALE. COMMANDO COLT ADDS ANOTHER STAKE TO JAMES R. KEENES LIST. Faust Earns Right to Start In the Suburban Handicap Little Woods Wins at Odds of 100 to 1. r New Tork. June IS. By winning a soiling race at Gravesend this afternoon, Faust earned a place among the Suburban starters Thiirsday. Darnell Haid on entering the horse yesterday, that if the wit won he would go in the Suburban and when Faust made good today, his owner had no desire to go back on his word. "If you dont shoot at the moon, youll never hit," he said and while it might look foolish to start Faust, 1 expect to do so. His dam, good old Imp, won it and he might also." Durncll will start Nealon also. W. Dugan will ride Nealon, while B. Dugan will pilot Faust. Kcalon was ontcred for the Brookdale Handicap this afternoon, but did not start. He was worked during the races, however, going one mile and a furlong in 1:55 easily. His weight in the Suburban is 113, while Fausts impost is. ninety pounds. Faust lias shown to be a wonderfully consistent plater lately and is a rare good looking colt. En-tered for ,000 today, lie was bid up to ,S0O by a man no one around the stand seemed to know. Durncll got even by claiming Colonel White, the favorite for the race, which finished second. Fouutainbliie had his Suburban trial today also and for his lirst race of the season made a very j;ood showing. He ran in the Brookdale Handicap at one mile and a furlong and, after keeping fairly close to Zambesi for one mile, tired a lilt and IHatidy- heat hini for second place. He appeared a frltlc big and this race should do him a world of good. If anything, Fouutainbliie showed better racehorse qualities than at any time last year, when speed, and speed only, was his only qualification. Today he ran freely behind a pacemaker and held on more gamely than it was believed he would. Still, it will be hard for the public to accept him as a strong Suburban possibility. Onley rode today, but it is not known who will have the mount Thursday. No rider has been announced yet for Electioneer, which still holds the lions share of the attention among the three-year-old candidates. But there is liarilly a dount that he will lie in capable hands. Bedouin was announced today as a sure starter, witii Ilrussel to ride. He has worked the distance in 2:10$. Dandelion also galloped the distance this morning in 2:0SJ, the mile in 1:412. This horse is at the very top of his form and many good judges will not look beyond him for the winner if the track is dry and fast. Others to work were: Ar-citc In 2:0SI, Montgomery in 2:11? and Cottoutown In 2:0!. James R. Kecne added the Brookdale Handicap to the long list of stakes won by his horses this season, Zambesi winning easily after leading all the way. He was the choice and was one of three favorites to win. Little Woods at 100 to 1 won the fifth race, while Dr. Lee at 20 to 1 was second, and Sailor Girl at GO to 1 was third. The race was an awful upset for the talent. Gene Woods was one of those to profit by the victory of Little Woods. Before the race Mr. Woods asked Tim Sullivan what would win. "Why," said Mr. Sullivan, "you like long shots, why not play Little Woods; lie is one of your family, evidently." Mr. Woods concluded it was a good hunch and bet 00 three ways at 100, 10 and 20; the race netting hini ,000.
