SHEEPSHEAD BAY RACING. Tomorrow afternoon the premier racing organization of America, the Coney Island Jockey Club, will entertain many thousands of visitors congregated to witness the first day of racing of its first meeting of 1107. There is nothing iu this country to compare with Sheepshead Bay racing in respect to importance and value of events to be decided. This meeting of the Coney Island Jockey Club covers seventeen days of racing in the course of which such great races as the 0,000 Double Event, 0,000 Suburban Handicap, 0,000 Tidal Stakes, 5,000 Great Trial Stakes, 5,000 Advance Stakes, 5,000 Coney Island Jockey Club takes, Commonwealth Handicap with 0,000 added and the Lawrence Realization with 0,000 added, are only more interesting than twenty-two more rich stakes of the meeting because of their greater value. Tomorrow afternoon will be marked by the running of the lirst half of the Double Event and of the famous Suburban Handicap. The Double Event is for two-year-olds and is run iu two races, the first at live and a half furlongs and the second at three-quarters of a mile, each half being of the guaranteed value of 0,000. Prominent iu its entries by reason of racing already done or reported fast work in private are Chapultepec, Smiley Corbett, Sir Navarre, Bohert Cooper, Smoker, Beckon, Masque, Colin, Monopolist, King James, Wave Crest, Ben Fleet, Harcourt, Firestone and Walter Miller. If the California crack, Firestone, is sent to the post, much interest will attend his debut in the east. As for the Suburban, It will be what it always is, a race of absorbing interest in which the giants of the handicap horses of the present day will contend, Dandelion, Electioneer, Uunning Water, Nealon, Flip Flap, Montgomery, Ironsides, Wexford, Blandy, Fountaiublue, Tokalon, Beacon Light, Frank Gill, Cottoutown and two from James R. Kcencs cligibles, Kurcki, Philander, Superman, Veil and Court Dress, being deemed certain starters and a grand and thrilling race being assured. Two stake races will be run off Friday afternoon, the Daisy Stakes for two-year-olds at five furlongs over the turf course and the Coney Island Handicap at three-quarters of a mile for three-year-olds and over. In the nominations to. the Daisy the names of Cohort, Notasulga, Firestone, Half Sovereign, Aimee C, James B. Brady, Fordello, Raconteur, Boas, Transvaal, Wave Crest, Walter Miller, Creation, Alanda, Sanguine, King Cobalt, NlmbYis and Ilolllster crop up. In the Coney Island Haudleap list are .such crack sprinters as Roseben, Ethon, Sewell, Kentucky Beau, First Premium, Montgomery, Tony Faust, Mary F., Ruby, Handzarra, Suffrage, Grimaidl, yell, Kings Daughter, McCarter, Oraculum, Dc Mund, Jack Atkin, Dr. Gardner, Jacobite, Halifax, Prince Hamburg, Sir Lynncwood and Red River. Saturday will bring about the decision of these important events: the Beacon Steeplechase, over the full course, with ,000 added; the long-established Foam Stakes, for two-year-olds, at five furlongs,, with ,r00 added; and the Tidal Stakes, at a mile and a quarter, for three-year-olds, guaranteed value 5,000, a program replete with Interest. Alfar, Rip, Pioneer, Sandhurst, Port Warden, Grandpa, Good and Plenty, Hot Shot, Hylas, Expansionist, Agent, Mr. McCann, St. Kevin, Sanctus, T. S. .Martin, Sheriff Williams, Palm, Coligny, El Cu-chillo, Ben Shaw and the rapid English liorse, John M. P., are among the Beacon entries. Most prominent in the big entry list of the Foam Stakes are the names of Cohurt, Half Sovereign, Chapultepec, Royal Vane, Sif Navarre, Master Roliert, James B. Brady, Aimee C, Robert Cooper, Smoker, Earls Court, Sepoy, Jubilee, Wave Crest, Star-gowan, Kings Plate, Fancy and Beaucoup. The Tidal problem seems to be a question of Keene or not. lie lias in Peter Pan, Ballot, Gretna Green, Philander and Grimaldi. The most formidable of those opposed arc McCarter, Arclte, Oran, Charles Edward, Arimo, Paumonok, Penarris, Yankee Gun, Saracincsca and Hickory. Since there arc no penalties or allowances the others wlil have to meet Peter Pan on equal terms, and it appears a tough task. If any one horse wins the Tidal, Coney Island Jockey Club Stakes and Lawrence Realization, it will earn an extra 0,000 for its owner, and it now appears that in the Tidal Mr. Kecne is likely to travel one-third of the route necessary to accumulate that tidy addition to the total value of the three rich stakes.
