THOMAS HAS SIXTEEN YEARLINGS. Woodford Buys Louisville Rastus Is Out of Training Lexington Gossip. Lexington, Ky., August 8. Dan Morris is breaking sixteen yearlings lor R. L. Thomas at the Kentucky Association course. There are nine colts and seven fillies and they cost Mr. Thomas 4,550. The half brother to Alcedo, winner of the Suburban Handicap in 1001, is regarded by good judges as the pick of the collection. Another that is greatly admired is the colt by Star Shoot Chapter, by Carlsbad. This fellow comes from the family of Blue Girl, Saividere and Lady Amelia. Catesbv Woodford bought the good mare Louisville from W. II. McCorkle a few days ago and has taken her to Raceland Stud in Bourbon County. Louisville is now ten years old and is a daughter of Loantaka and Virulent, by Virgil. Her first foal Is a yearling black colt by Lamplighter. This youngster is still the property of Mr. McCorkle and it Is his intention to race him next season. Louisvilles fOal of this year was by Alloway, but died. She was bred back to Alloway. It is the intention of Mr. Woodford to mate her with Sir Dixon next Thirty of the Castleton Stud yearlings will be sent to Sheepshead Bay next week to he broken while racing is in progress at Saratoga. J S. Barbees Rastus. the two-year-old half-brother to La Londe. by Handspring My Gyps, has been thrown out of training and is now on Mr. Barbees farm near this city. Quartercracks prevented the colts racing and caused his retirement.-La Londe, it is understood, is to be retired to the stud next fall. Though Dainty Dame is training nicely at the local track Lee Darnaby has abandoned the plan of taking her-to Saratoga tills year. He may race the daubter oT Handspring at the Kentucky tracks next fulC but thinks she is well worth saving for an eastern campaign as a four-year-old.
