Grapple and Inquisitor ran poorly and both can do much better. Kilter was kept in the rear for three-quarters then moved up fast and. in a gamely contested finish, outstayed Ocean Spray for second place. The latter came fast in the last half and finished resolutely. Lally showed superior early speed and held on gamely to the end under a weak ride. Manheimer showed superior early speed and set a fast pace, but could not maintain It and tired in the final drive. The others were outpaced all the way.
