BELIEVE DENHAM POISONED The good colt Denham is in a bad way at Fort Erie. At one oclock Saturday the Messrs. Ilendrie. owners of the colt, visited the stable and looked Denham over and remarked how well he appeared. An hour after trainer Nixon hurried to the grandstand and informed George Hendrie that Denham was a very sick horse and that he thought that some one had poisoned him. The colt acted as if he had gone crazy. He was all drawn up with the sweat rolling off him in streams. The pupils of his eyes were dilated and they had a greenish appearance. The colt kept shivering and shaking. A veterinarian who examined him claimed that he had an attack of strangulation of the bowels, caused by feeding new hay. The general impression among the horsemen who examined him was that the colt had been tampered witli and that it was a ease of poisoning. Denliani was rated as one of the fastest horses ever foaled in Canada. Just two weeks ago he ran a mile in l:3Sj, winning with ridiculous ease.
