AVon driving; second and third the same, n.il, evidently favored by the going and rt-ccvering his speed suddenly, established an early lead, which he s-oon increased greatly, but tired in the stretch and was doing his best at the finish. Sanguine, also suddenly improved, closed an early gap into a good position and, finishing fast, was gaining steadily at the end. Chulita ran forwardly and gamely throughout, but was unable to concede so much weight to the wo leaders in the going. Rava Avis closed a big gap and tired from the effort to get up. Thomas Calhoun also made up much ground. Banyah and Biskra showed early speed, but tired and failed to stay. Main Chance trailed far in the rear in the early running and caught the leaders tiring in the last three furlongs, saved several lengths by a close stretch turn and drew out decisively at the end. Tourenne, possibly best, set the pace and was excessively urged to hold the lead, shook off several challenges and drew out in the stretch, but succumbed suddenly to the winner. Colonel Jack ran well up throughout and linished gamely. Rilleman retired after six furlongs of close and strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker. Antaeus also made up ground and finished gamely. Big Chief ran well to the stretch and tired. Smoker, Sir Cleges and Fort Johnson ran poorly in the going, the latter, in particular, being unable to extend himself. Red Leaf quit at the end of seven furlongs and ran a bad race in going favorable to her. Miss Doyle also ran a bad race and quit all over. DArkle retired early.
