BURLESQUE RACING AT NEW ORLEANS New Orleans, La., September 12. The Louisiana merry-go-round here is still running on in its burlesque way and having all kinds of complications out of weekly changes of starters, jockey strikes and gambling complications. Up to a few days ago the "ring" was a syndicate affair. Now it is "open to all reputable bookmakers," as the management is pleased to announce. The syndicate contract expired last Saturday. It was held by one Andy Maloney, who paid 50 per day. anri ,000 on Saturday to run the five syndicate books, hut when he declined the offer of a. renewal of the contract at the large figure, the association decided to maintain an "open" . betting ring, charging each bookmaker 00 for the privilege of dally operating.
