5,000 COLT NAMED CALIFORNIA. Tlie Meddler Won by Waiting yearling colt which Clarence 11. Mackey reserved with a bid of 5,000 when bis horses were sold in New York September -3, has been named California. The colt is now at Beckhamptou, England, in charge of Sam Darling, and will be prepared for the-Epsom Derby of 1009. If California races up to expectations he will eventually take the place of his sire at Kingston Stud.
