Moharib, which started in tbe closing race, broke down during the stretch run and Shining Star, in the third, bled after going a half. Both horses were unnecessarily punished hard by their riders after their mishaps. Koyal Breeze, which was severely kicked while at the post in his last start, had to lie destroyed this morning. Owner Walker made a statement to Judge Hopper today that Lycurgus has been sick since his arrival here and that this explains sonic of the poor rides he had been guilty of. Lycurgus also made a similar plea and the probabilities are that his suspension will be raised in the near future. J. S. Hawkins said today that he had changed his plans of shipping direct to California and will race a small string during the Churchill Downs meeting. M. J. "Winn was among todays visitors. He said that everything was in readiness for the Churchill. Downs opening next Wednesday. He also corroborated the rumor that Lyman Davis would not act as secretary at tlie new Santa Anita track.
