"FATHER BILL" DALYS DECADENCE. "There is something wrong with the world," says the New York Telegraph. " Father Bill Daly scratched a horse Thursday Listless in the last race. It was a race for jockeys who had never ridden more than two winners, too. which still further complicates the incident. Nothing like this has ever happened before at least in the last hundred years so it must be that Listless is dead. "Incidentally the question arises, how long can a man stand to lose at racing and still go aloug entering horses day after day, paying riders and keeping up a stable? "Dalys luck has been of the hardest for many years now, but hes there every day with two or three, and none of them ever win or even run in the money. He hasnt had a race horse since Aol-ley, which ran third in the Brooklyn Handicap of 1S97. Other horsemen come and go, but Father Bill goes on forever."
