Number One outbroke the others and made the running throughout, skillful riding and sticking close to , the inner rail helping him to win. Live Wire, a big horse difficult to control, was boring out all around the big turn, went very wide in the stretch and failed to get up. Countermand was well up from the start and outstayed the remainder decisively for third place. Antaeus, prominent in the early stages and uider a pull and jumping on horses in front of him, unexpectedly failed when called upon for an extra effort at the end. Dredger ran prominently to the stretch and quit. Tennis was virtually left. Sandy Creeker broke slowly and was reserved for the first mile, was seriously interfered with when the first three, Motor, St. Nick and Waterspeed. fell, then closed up steadily after beginning the last mile, drew out when straightened for home and won like a good one. Economy was a game contender throughout; and succumbed finally to the winner, but held on gamely. Touchwood made the running for a mile and a half before he tired and landed badly at the obstacles when nearing the end. Monkey Puzzle ran forwardly for half the journey. Hayseed and Percentage were prominent contenders when they fell at the end of :i mile. Lizzie Flat was interfered with and put out of commission early. St. Nick was bumped and thrown by Waterspeed at the end of five furlongs. Scratched 71341 Rye Boy, 132. Overweights Monkey Puzzle, 2 pounds. Economy, singly, show, 4 to 1. Faust trailed close up in the early stages, moved up when beginning the far turn, escaped interference midway of the stretch and, finding an opening, came through tfnd got up right at the end. Tourenne, reserved in close pursuit of the pacemaker in the middle running, was badly bumped by Killaloe midway of the stretch, after which he came on again and appeared the winner, but succumbed unexpectedly in the last stride. Killaloe, nearly left and pulling up, was sent along with a rush into a big lead and held sway to the stretch, where she bore out, but swerved back again, sharply interfering with Tourenne and slightly with Gold Lady, which cost her the race finally. Gold Lady was kept back in a secure looking; pocket nearly all the way, but finished close up. Scratched 71422 Perseverance. 105; 71287 Monfort, 105. Rockstoue broke slowlj, but established i n.uick lead and made the running for nearly seven furlongs before being headed, then put up a remarkably game closing effort and is an improved horse. Flowaway closed un Immense gap after being nearlv left. Royal Ben again failed to stay. Mlutherla bolted on the last turn. Alpeninarchen, can do better. The winner, entered for ,000, was bid up bv F.
