SANTA ANITA WORK GOING WELL. Los Angeles. Cal., October SI. Dr. J. S. Oard-ner, of Kansas City, has arrived at Los Angeles to take up his duties as general manager of the Los Angeles Haciug Association. After an inspection of the work at the track with contractor Allen, he declared himself as more than pleased with the new. plant as far as it has been built. Dr. Card ner says everything will lie in readiness nearly on time and. unless something now unforeseen happens, racing will commence; Thanksgiving Day. ieorge ISose, one of the largest stockholders and-a member of the board of directors, is in Los Angeles assisting Dr. Cardner at the Los Angeles oltices of the association in solving the many problems of construction and other plans and in the preparation of the racing program for the meeting. A number of stables which raced at Ascot Park last, winter will be on hand lor opening day at the new plant. W. A. Porter, L. A. Bousnck and T. O. Webber will all take small stables west at the dose of 11k; eastern season. John Shields will probably send Co P.elwecii and Halifax to Los Angeles within a few weeks, but will not go west himself before the first of the year.
