Hessian was outrun iu the earlj stages, but moved up fast on the turn, came through a small opening at the sixteenth post, challenged Suffrage and, in a hard drive, just got up at the .finish. Suffrage carried her weight well, ran a good race and held on gamely at the end. Lad of Langden came 011 fast in the stretch and was an easj going third. Frank Lord -was lame when going to the post, but showed the most early speed and ran a good race under the circumstances. Gretna Green got off poorly, but made up ground steadily and, coming on fast through the stretch, got up for third place in the last two strides. McCarter ran within striking distance to the stretch and loomed up menacingly when a furlong out, but got into a pocket and was stmt off at a critical moment. W. II. Daniel showed superior early speed and set the pace fast for three-quarters, but quit badly in tho stretch. Martin Doyle and Far West ran poorly. Scratched 71S23 Faust, 9S. Flowaway ran forwardly throughout and finished resolutely and close up. Cora Price ran a good three-quarters and retired. Reside was outpaced throughout. The winner was entered for ; no bid. Duke of Bridgewater made up ground steadily and outstayed Throckmorton for second place in a game drive. Throckmorton was knocked back early, but came again under a good ride and was a fast going third. Onatassa closed a big gap and finished with a rush. Red Bonnet ran fairly well only.
