STANLEY FAY RUNS ANOTHER FAST RACE. Daruma a Bad Actor — Timothy Wen Wins Again — Jcckey Bullman Disappears. Lm Angeles. Cat., January 8. — Starter Dwyer was not in his best form today, several of his starts being of the ragged order. Daruma was left almost fiat fooled in the second race, but as she is a bad actor at the post the fault was hardly that of the starter. The entry of Daruma will be refused in the future. The sport is at its best here just now. which was made apparent by a draw-in of twenty-two books and an unusually large attendance. The wearing of blinkers made a big difference in El Cazadors running today, and he was backed for a good thing, but had to finally succumb to Norfolk. Harvel won tiie first race, which was a selling affair over the six furlongs course for three-year-olds. Preston allowed the colt to swing wide when turning into the stretch, but he rallied quickly and finished cantering. Ruscimo made the early pace but tired when caught by the winner. Timothy Wen went up in the betting, notwithstanding his fast race over the mile route last Saturday, but was an overwhelming favorite. Timothy Wen proceeded to set a fast pace and led all the way. Daruma. the second choice, was left at the post. Stanley Fay equalled his own record made here when he ran seven furlongs in 1:24£. which was one-fifth of a second faster than the track record made the previous Saturday by Critic. The Walker colt met Critic today and showed a clean pair of heels to her throughout the running of the race. Jockey Bullman. who came here from New Orleans to ride for his former employer, J. J. Walsh. the Uanadian turfman, has suddenly vanished and no « nc is able to account for his disappearance. Bullman has been missing since last Saturday and toaday Walsh had a search instituted for him. The completion of new stables now brings the number of stalls at the new track up to l,04o and General Manager J. S. Gardner announces that he will noi accept any more reservations, as there is not an empty stall to be had. The club officials say they will not be responsible to any owners shipping here with respect to providing them with stable room for their horses. •
