January S3* will be of inter est to the racing folks of this country: •We feel sure that you w:Il he interested lo learu that horse racing in the West Indies will lie taken up on March 12. of this year. •"The attached in- moraiuliini is taken from tin otlieial program of the Kstaeiuu luvernal. which is the Spanish for winter season. A regularly oian izod commission has been appointed lo take up lhe mailer of giving entertainment to the visitors in Cuba each year. Heretofore it has not been pos sible to keep the people entertained for a long enough [leriod ami that deficiency is to be supplied by this commission. They ere late in starting this year, but that will be made up next year with- out any question. •"The Cuban BaetaK Association is l eing fathered hf the Festival Committee of the Estaeion luvernal. which insures the proper treatment of all people who compel e or who come to see the races. The track is located at Buena Vista, about five miles from Havana on the Havana Electric Railroad and tie- | uiteir Railways of Havana, which provide plenty of traiis[K rtatioii facilities for the crowds. Cuba." Ever since tuba became ;. free nation there has been intermittent talk of raciug at Havana, hut nothing has come of it. That winter raciug at Havana might prove successful and profitable, if under feei management, seems highly probablo. Possibly the beginning of well established annual racing is iu sight in tin- preseut project of the Cuban Racing Assoeiat ion.
