KEENES GRAND NATIONAL CANDIDATES. What the Epsom Derby Is to flat racing the Liverpool Grand National is to steeplechasing. the fore-raiKt race of the world. The highest class racing men of England and Ireland strive for its honors. King Edwards Ambush II. won it in 1000. and lie is an annual nominator, his representative this year lieing Flaxman. by Hackler— Circe. The Jr.ind National of this year received seventy-one nominations. American interest will attach to two entries" made by Koxhall Keene. His representatives are the chestnut mare. Chorus, by Chorister -Helena, by Morteincr. foaled in 1808, and the bay gelding. Prophet, by Horoscope — Royal Nun. foaled iu 1H00. Prophet was in the Grand National of last year, and there was talk of his having an outside chain e to wiu. tat he was not started. It is to be loped one. if not both, of his candidates, will he sent to the post this year. The Irand National is run over a course of almost four and a half miles, the exact distance being four miles and 850 yards. It is a severe and trying course, and the horses that contest it are always fully grown and at the highest of their muscular development. The youngest horse entered this year is a five-year did. and of this age there is but on-named. The six-year-olds are ten in number. Tbie leaves sixty eligibles. all of which are seven years old or older, a condition hard to match in the steeplechasiug of this country.
