Won cantering; second and third driving. Montgomery raced forwardly until turning for home, then passed into an easy leatl midway of the stretch, simply making his opponents appear cheap thereafter. Rifleman was always prominent in the running ami, in a long stretch drive, showed rare gameness. First Peep came from far back In the final eighth and finished very fast. George S. Davis set the pace fast for over a mile, but tired badly in the stretch drive. Rubric closed a big gap and finished fast under punishment. Frank Fllttner was going fast at llie end. The latter was saved for over a mile and a half antl moved up fast when called on. but could not quite get up. Big Bow was in prominent and game contention from the start and tired in the final sixteenth.
