Captain Burnett, from a striding start, was reserved early, dashed through on the last turn and. challciig- ing inidway of the stretch, outstayed Mansard in a hard tlrive. The latter was excessively urged to out -pace the lightly-weighted and fast non-stayer Red Bill antl tired finally. /.Tina, prominent early, dropped back slightly on the far turn and came on in the stretch into a fast going third. Shenandoah began very slowly and was outpaced to the stretch, then made a whirlwind finish and is out of place in sprints. Western ran in forwartl and game contention throughout. Red Bill again failed to stay. Agnolo showed early speed, but quit badly. The winner was entered for ,200: no bid. Marian Casey set the early pace and was excessively urged to keep the lead, stumbled repeatedly at the end and should have won. Supine was well up from the start and going well at the end. Cloyne. after lorward contention for seven furlongs, quit badly. Margaret Randolph made up ground in the last half. Adena lacked speed. Catherine F. was outclassed. The latter, hurt by the long delay at tin* post, made the running to the last sixteenth before he succumbed and finished swerving into the deepest going. Ocean Shore broke slowly and ran prominently throughout, but was repeatedly shut off aim given a bad ride. Ed Davis was shuffled back at the half, but held on well afterwards and is promising.
