RACING DATES TO BE GIVEN IN MARCH. Lexington. Ky., February 11. -It will be something more than a month before the dates for spring racing in Kentucky are alloled. At a meeting of tlie State Racing Commission in Frankfort yesterday the situation in this; state was thoroughly discussed and after liceĀ»es had been granted to the track.* at Lexington. Latonia and Louisville, it was agreed that the date question should lie deferred until after the adjournment of the legislature, which will be March 14. Iu the meanwhile the managers of the several racing associations will get together and agree upon a schedule along lines of the policy of The Racing Commission in its direction of curtailment of dates. Louisville wants to open on May 2 and Latonia wants its dates so arranged that it "will have advantage of Dei-oration Day. Under these circumstances tlie idea to sandwich the Lexington nieeling in between Louisville and Latonia will, in all probability, be abandoned. It is safe to say that there will not be more than fifty-three days of racing iu this state during the coming spring. The schedule most likely to be adopted is Lexington, ten days, beginning April 20: Louisville, nineteen days. iMginning May 2, and Latonia, twenty-four days, beginniug May 2 aud ending June 20. Whatever may be the attitude of Sheriff Sehoil when racing time comes at Louisville, it is a certainty, according to general manager Matt J. Winn and others interested in the New Louisville Jockey Club, that tlie meeting will be held and that the Kentucky Derby and other old-time stakes will be decided at Churchill Downs. As to the three measures lieariug upon racing in this stale and introduced in the legislature nothing is to be feared. They will not pass.
