Corrigan Sends Two Winners to the Post in John Carroll and Alma Dufour — Jockeys Notter and Powers Again in the Saddle. New Orleans. La.. February 20. — The Pickwick Steeplechase Handicap over the full course, in which the Itcst jumpers h re were engaged, was todays feature at City Park. It resulted iu a surprise iu Sam Hoffheiiners easy victory. The snuggle for second place was spirited. Dr. Heard lasting barely long enough to finish in advance of the suddenly improved Injectable and Pete Vinegar only n head away. The easterners pinned their faith to Gold tirc le and he was backed into favoritism, but at no time was he a serious factor. Itnlph Reese. Coal Black Lady and Gait were added starters. Hyperion II. mid Blagg raced closely at a fast pace in the early limning, but on the stretch turn the Cella candidate drew into a clear lead and was seemingly a certain winner when Lee made the mistake of pulling hlin out from the inner rail and. Koerner. finding a clear course in the stretch run. sent John Carroll along at a fast clip and wore down Hyperion II. in the last sixteenth, Blagg taking third place. Corrigans colors again finished in front iu the next race when Alma IMifour. the favorite, got up in the last few strides to boat Green Seal. The latter showed much the most speed and for a time threatened to spreadeagle his opponents, but gradually tired and barely lasted long enough to save second place from Beau Brnmmel. The opening race went to Sea Swell in track record time. Anne MeGoe was the runner-up throughout, but at no time seriously menaced the winner. Jockey Troxler was suspended for ten days by the starter for disobedience at the post. Jockeys J. Ferris and A. Pickens were given a rest of five days for similar offenses. Red Mill, for which C. R. Kllison paid ,500. was sold today to M. H. Demarest for l0. Deni-aiest later disposed of him to J. J. McCafferty at an advance of 00. The suspensions against jockeys Notter and V. ,J*owrrs expired today and both resumed riding. The horses belonging to Messrs.
