Sea Swell ran into the lead in the first furlong and, hard ridden, outstayed Anne MeGee in a sharp drive. Anne MeGee ran forwardly throughout and finished gamely. Pinion, also favored at the start, ran a good race, hut tired and just lasted long enough to hold third place. Brougham began slowly, but gained Mendily and would have been third in another stride. Roseburg II. had scant chance after the start, brake trmm the extreme outside and was forced to travel nearly a sixteenth farther than the others Fundamental will improve. Rural Boy moved up steadily from a slow lieglnnlng and, closing a big gap in the stretch, wore the others down for second place. Arrow Swift ran a good race and stood the final drive gamely. Bereaud Jr. came from a long way back in the stretch. Dew of Dawn tired after going a good half. Aunt Rose, away in a tangle and forced to go wide, tired in the last furlong and can do much better. Won easily; second and third driving. Sara Hqffheimer, running to his best form and fencing in good style, went into a long lead when called on and won with much in reserve. Dr. Heard, always close up, finished fast, but was lucky to get second place. Rejectable, showing sudden improvement, came from a long way back while taking the last two jumps and would have been second in a few more strides. Pete Vinegar ran a good race and but for blundering at the last jump would have been much closer up. Bank Holiday, kept too far back early, closed a big gap. Woodside tired after showing the most speed over eight jumps. Gold Circle ran poorly. Dr. Logau was never a serious contender. John Carroll, close up for the first three-quarters, saved much ground by staying close to the inner rail and, finishing with a rush after securing clear sailing, won drawing clear. Hyperion II., probably betst, set a fast pace in the early running, raced Blagg into defeat and but for allowing John Carroll to get through in the final furlong, would have won. Blagg showed much speed for three-quarters, but tired in the stretch drive. Tokalon was cut off on the first turn and had to be hard ridden throughout.
