NEW KENTUCKY FIRMS TWO-YEAR-OLDS. Lexington. Ky., February 29. — Two new-comers to the ranks of owners are Judge C. E. Day. of the firm Pride and Day, lawyers, of this city, and S. M. Billiter. a contractor for the construction of roads and bridges, whose home is at Williamstown, near which city lie has a farm. At the November sale here, when they were practically giving away thoroughbreds, these gentlemen bought two colts and two fillies, now two-year-olds, and sent them down to the Billiter farm to be broken. They wintered nicely and an arrangement was made with Dan T. Morris to train and race thein this season. They arrived at bis barn at the Kentucky Association course Thursday. Their names and breeding follow: Billy O., br. c, by Orlando— Queen Beth, by Hindoo. Dixie Turner, ch. f, by Orlando — Falaise, by King Alfonso. Donald Mac, b. c, by Orlando — Liudolette, by Leonatus. Pouting Betsaye, b. f, by St. Leonards— Bellfield II.. by Egmont. Billy 0. is the second foal of Queen Beth, the other being the three-year-old Miss Wicks, which has 11 ver started. Queen Beth was a winner and a full sister to the old campaigner Dave Souiiners, winner of twenty races in six seasons. She is likewise a half-sister to that good race mare Queen Dixon, whose first foal is Pat Dunnes Lens. Donald Mac is a full brother to Orline. The dam is a full sister to the good race horse L onawell. Dixie Turner is the first foal from the old mare Falaise dam of Libertine, winner of forty-six races, Carrie Lyle, fifteen wins. Airship, nineteen wins, Con-tessa, Forthought, Leonaise and Bob McLean, to live since Airship came in 1902. In 1903 Falaise foaled a chestnut filly by Stat Ruby, but it died, and she was barren iu 1904 and 1905. Dixie Turner is a March foal and is good looking. Pouting Betsaye, which Mr. Billiter good humoredly explains was named in honor of his wife, appears to be a bargain at the 00 paid for her last fall. She is a half-sister to Hocus Pocus and Choirmaster. Her dam is a daughter of the noted race mare Kaloolah and goes back to the Magnolia family.
