Dredger, easily best today, showed a high turn of speed throughout, making the others appear cheap. Fisher Boy ran in game pursuit of the winner, for the first fire furlongs, was needlessly under the whip In the final eighth and was much the best of the others. Ampedo showed early speed, bet fell away fast [ after passing the far turn and ran much below his true form. Byplay went well for three-quarters. Overweights — Dredger, 2 pounds. Wexford, skillfully reserved in close attendance on the pacemakers to the stretch, moved up rapidly when an « ighth out and, wearing Colonel Jack down in the closing strides, won going away. The latter took the lend on the far turn and swung to the rail when entering the stretch, but was suddenly brought to the whip in the final sixteenth and responded gamely, but was not good enough. Early Tide showed the most early speed, but tired in the stretch drive. Edwin T. Fryer trailed to the stretch, and finished with a hw tush. Orilene ran poorly. M Overweights — Wexford. Ocean Maid closed a big gap into a fast going fifth. Wm. F. Herron went well. Bright Skies showed si eed, but tired. Cull Holland got off badly and could never get through.
