FROM BLUE GRASS FARMS AND STABLES. Mackay Has Fine Band of Meddler Yearlings at Kingston — Bowman Leaves for Canada, Lexington, Ky., March 7. — Out of nineteen yearlings at Kingston Stud, fourteen are colts and five are fillies, and it is beginning to look as if manager . F. Hill is going to have the same good luck as to the sex of the foals of this si ason. Of the six foals by Meddler that have arrived, four art* colts, sons of Irish Ivy, Ballantrae. Becky Sharp and Hatasoo, and two are fillies out of Mauzana dam of Manchester and Chinkara, by Galopiu. Mr. Hill appears to fancy th ■ little fellow out of Hatasoo more than any of the others. Of the yearlings the largest and the shapeliest is tile son of Meddler and Kamara. He weighs SOO pounds. John E. Madden gave ,700 for the two-year old full sister to this colt and she is now in his string at Benuing. The Weight of this colt is the same as that of the Meddler — Won-by-Waiting colt, wihch Mr. Mackay reserved at 5,000 and sent to England at this time last year. Daniel W. Scott. Mode Nieol and Ed Franklin. the "stock company" that bought True Dora from Jimmy Riley, have not abandoned hope of getting back at least a part of the .7 0 they paid for I lie- goixl-looking. but non-earning daughter of Pirate of Penzance and The Dreamer. True Dora is now a four-year -old. She was started three times as a two-year-old and seven times as a three-year-old and was never in the money. She has been running out all winter at Mr. Scotts farm and came in last Sunday looking as handsome as a picture. She is to In- trained this year by James Stevens. Allan Steel.- has decided to ship the three-year-old Gilvedcar, by Giganteum — Sea Puss, to Benning. His sou. jockey Tommy Steele, will do some of the riding for John E. Madden this year. J. B. Riley has secured the name Alia Hanse for the two-year-old bay lilly by Handsome — Athleen, by The Bard. This is a half-sister to Bluleeu. a winner last year. A. Smith Bowman, after spending the winter here, left for his home in Alberta, Canada, Wednesday. In 1900 he bought 6.000 acres, of land in Alberta and that fall bought the stallion RainlK w and some twenty-five thoroughbred mares here and shipped them to tlie new country. He had good luck with his foals in 1908, and his caretaker wrote him a few days ago that he has a number of good-looking yearlings. Mr. Bowman says that he may have four or five of the lot trained for racing on the half-mile tracks in that part of the country, but expects to sell the majority of them to his neighbors, not especially for racing purposes, but for use under the saddle and in harness. The legislature will adjourn on St. Patricks Day the 17th and the State Racing Commission will meet shortly thereafter to allot the spring dates for Lexington, Louisville and Latonia. There are nearly 300 horses in the stables at the Kentucky Association track. The weather, however, lias been such that fast work, had it been desired, was out of the question. However, there will be plenty to entertain the work -watchers in about ten days. James B. Bradys Water Light and Oiseau were today transferred from Melrose Stud to the stable of Frank Jones at the Kentucky Association course. They will remain here until after the local spring meeting, when they will be seut to trainer Matt Allen at Sheepsh.ad Bay. Dominick OMalleys Cold Rose foaled a bay filly by Wadsworth at Walnut Hill Farm yesterday. The mare displayed such an aversion for her foal that it was given to Nellie Cromwell, daughter of Wads-worth, whose foal by Governor Foraker had died the day before. G. W. J. Bissell has transferred the stallion Mad-dalo and several mares from his Pennsylvania farm to Cold Stream Stud. East India, a half-sister of Handsome, Hastings, Glenheim and Plaudit, has a bay filly by Stalwart, at Kindergarten Stud. Among the foals of the week at Castleton Stud is a half-brother to Wild Mint and Mentha and a chestnut colt by Voter — Mint Cake. T. C. McDowell has booked five mares to Haps-hurg.
