I , , ; 1 ! SARATOGA STAKES READY FOR ENTRIES. The stakes for the Saratoga meeting which have not closed, will close for entry April IS. The stakes now o|ku are th- Saratoga Handicap, Saratoga Cup. Merchants and Citizens Handicap. Chainplaiu Handicap. Delaware Handicap and the Amsterdam and Catskill Selling Stakes, all of which arc for three-year-olds and over. For three-year-olds are the Saranac, Huron, Mohawk Selling Stakes and the Seneca Selling Stakes. The stakes for two-year-olds are the Saratoga Special, Adiron dack Handicap, Albany Handicap. Kentucky Selling Stakes for fillies and Troy S ,lling Stakes. The seven events which have already closed are the Hopeful, Spinaway, Grand Union Hotel, United States Hotel and Flash Stakes for two-year-olds and the Travers and Alabama for three-year-olds. At a recent meeting of the directors of the Saratoga Association it was decided to make some material changes in the conditions. What tbey shall be have not been definitely agreed upon, but there will be a clause penalizing the three-year-olds that have won as two-year-olds, while some other changes will be mude looking to a good contest. This year, by reason of the great number of high-class three-year-olds, and notably Colin, some material additions will be made to the penalties for winners. Under the conditions that prevailed last year, Colin would not have to pick up any penalty for all his magnificent victories. The penalty clauses did not in any manner affect three-year-olds. It was •Winners in 1900 or 1007. when three-year-olds or upward, to carry three pounds extra. Ot two suc-h races, five pounds extra."
