IMPORTS EXCELLENT RACE CANTERS IN FROM FRED BENT. GRACE G., TAVORA AND OTHER FAST ONES. Alcibiades Finishes First, but Is Disqualified for Fouling — Cull Holland a Colt of Great Speed — President Williams Wants Big Bow. Oakland, Cal., March 12. — But for a fraction of a shade of odds in the closing prices quoted about Combury and Import, the winners of the first and fourth races, respectively, public choices monopolized the entire card at Oakland today. The running of the chief racing attraction, the Alvarado Handicap, at one mile, resulted in a ridiculously easy victory for the grand Peep oDay colt. Import. With Gilbert up. this superbly trained and consistent three-year-old simply played with six fast opponents, including Fred Bent, Grace G., Janeta. Tavora. Wing Ting and Northwest. Aside from this race the card bristled with interesting and varied features. The mile and a quarter race, won by the even-money favorite. Cadi-chon, was also a one-sided affair, due chiefly to the procrastination and incapacity of jockey Heath-erton on Logistilla. Suicidal four-mile riding tactics was practiced with this high-class mare, which did not permit her to get into serious contention until too late. The same jockeys incapacity destroyed whatever chances Grace G. had in the Import race. A very rare kind of aftermath developed in the fifth race, in which Alcibiades finished in front, in the shape of a disqualification of the winner in favor of the second horse, Husky. The offending jockey, Borel, was suspended thirty days for rough riding. This is the first disqualification in a -long time and the stewards were commended for their action. Barney Schreiber scored with a two-year-old of dazzling speed in Cull Holland in the juvenile race. The strapping son of Sir Hercules and Miss Marion tan the three and one-half furlongs in the marvel-ously fast time of 41 i seconds. The Woodlands-bred youngster is still on the big side, runs green and is an embryo racer of great promise. Jockeys Kirschbaum and Hayes were each suspended for three days by tbe starter. Walter Miller will resume riding tomorrow, and is scheduled to ride the following horses: Humero, Who, Altadice, Dorado, Taunt and Rather Royal. Thomas H. Wil Hams other crack jockey expects to have the mounts on Bannock Bob, Minnie Bright, Billy Myer, Saint Modan. Markie Mayertfhd Preen. T. H. Williams has agreed to pay ,000 for Big Bow if it does not rain before eleven oclock Saturday morning, in which case he will run in the Williams colors in the Thornton Stakes.
