EXTENSION AT SANTA ANITA IMPROBABLE. Meeting Will Close on Scheduled Date— Horace £. Makes Good Showing Against Don Domo. Los Angeles, Cal.. March 12. — Although no official announcement has been made concerning the extension of the meeting here, it is generally understood the meeting will end April 7. R. A. Raineys Horace E. was the medium of a heavy plunge today on a reported fast work-out, but. had to succumb to the "grey streak," Don Domo, In a rattling finish. The card was ah improvement over those of the last few days and was productive of some good racing. Horace H., the Texas-bred two-year-old from the Newman stable, was made a pronounced favorite in the second race, but was forced to do his best at the end to withstand the game challenge of Fore-guard, which closed a tremendous gap in the last quarter and barely failed to get up. The price on Orilene receded somewhat, owing to the belief that she would not like the distance. The Ingoldsby mare was held In reserve until reaching the far turn, when Shrlner sent her into an easy lead, which she maintained to the finish. Summer Cloud held second place throughout, but could not keep pace with the winner, although under punishment in the stretch drive. Brawney Lad was the medium of a plunge in the fourth race, and made good in the last stride of a hard drive. Bardonia set the pace to the stretch and appeared like the winner when an eighth out. but tired and was lucky to save second place. It now transpires that the Los Angeles city ordinance prohibiting the sale of race track selections, which was passed over the veto of Mayor Harper last Monday, is not a valid enactment, owing to the fact that the emergency clause was not stricken out and therefore did not receive the required majority to pass it. It now stands where it was when the mayor vetoed it.
