I I • . NOTES OF THE TURF. Herman B. Duryea has left New York for Europe e to be absent for several weeks. It is said that he a may buy an English stallion while he is there. Letters from horsemen who shipped to Havana a from Tampa and New Orleans are enthusiastic in " describing the prospects for the meeting which ■ opened there yesterday. Jockey Garner, who will ride for James B. Brady v this year, is getting himself in condition by giving g Accountant a gallop every morning. Garner will go to Washington for the Benning meeting. J. B. Brokaw, a California turfman, will race a small stable on the metropolitan tracks this season. * He has a few horses now at Belmont Park, the best it of which is the live year old gelding, Liouheart. Henry Mason, trainer of the W. OB. Macdoiiough h two-year-olds at Oakland, says that there are several .i undeveloped youngsters in the stable which are better " than Duke of Milan, winner of the Undine le Stakes. The work-watchers at Sheepshead Bay say that ltiuias, one « f the last of the Commando colts in Hie James R. Keene stable, can run like the wind and is sure to make his mark before the season is very old. Harry Stone has left New York for Washington. where he will condition himself for riding by exercising the jumpers J. W. Colt has at the Benning track. He will ride the Colt horses in their races t at the Washington meeting.
