Of the four horses carded to start at New Orleans this afternoon in the Crescent City Derby. Iinkola really has the be»t racing record. This line young son of the American Derby winner, Pink Coat, has never run unplaced and has won twelve of the sixteen races in which he has started. His last eight races have been victories. He is a capital mud runner, and his great speed was amply demonstrated when he broke the track record at New Orleans I few days ago and, conceding weigiit to such good horses as Pedro and First Premium, won easily at a mile and seventy yards in such fast time as 1:43. In the main, Pinkola has done his racing for purses, bat in the way of stake races he has to his credit the Crescent City Jockey Clubs Inaugural handicap, and at City Park won the Test Stakes. Jn the Inaugural he won easily from Keator, Lens, Jacobite, I ad -of Langden, Rickey, Grimaidi and De Oro, and infthe Test Stakes ran away from the redoubtable Jack Atkin and Keator. His first start in a race was at Latonia, July 3, for a purse, in which he ran third to Parisian Model and Albert Star at five furlongs in 1:01. From there he was taken to Fort Erie, and ran in four races, of which he won three and was second to Whisk Broom in the other. At the Latonia fall meeting he ran in six races, of which he won four and was defeated in two, running second to C. W. Burt at five and one-half furlongs, October 10, in l:07jj, and third to Please and Colonel Bob at three-quarters of a mile, in l:13g. From there he was taken to New Orleans, where his career has been one of uninterrupted success, and where he has amply shown all of the qualities desirable in a race horse.
