Pops, away to a striding start, showed great speed throughout and held Frank Clancy safe through the final sixteenth when the latter momentarily threatened. Frank Clancy, off to a flatfooted start, made up ground rapidly in the first quarter and menaced for a moment when a sixteenth out, but tired badly at the end. Lucky Mate, in a long stretch drive, finished gamely. Thelma Thompson was sluggish in the early running, but finished with a great rush. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. The latter forced a s-harp "pace for the first six and a half furlongs, then took the lead, but tired badly, just lasting long ■■Hough to save .second place. Dazzle showed the most speed for six furlongs, then faltered for an instant. Dill rallied in the final hundred yards and was wearing Ed Ball down in the closing strides.
