Mmivina trailed seemingly outpaced to the stretch, where she came with a rush and made good on the inside. Triumphant, reserved in the early running, finished fast and made a cracking effort. Phalanx was waited with in nearest pursuit of the pacemaker to the stretch, then drew out. but quit finally. Standover. shut off repeatedly and hard held to midway of the stretch, tired finally as if short, but is in .•xtra good form. Ray Bennett set the pace to midway of the stretch and quit badly. Sir Brillar was unexpectedly the victim of waiting tactics, went hopelessly wide on the stretch turn and was never ;i serious contender". The winner was entered for .00; no bid. Toll Box got into quick nearest pursuit of the psicemaker and beat the others off for second place. Flying Caiiee ran forwardly and finished gamely. Cull Holland, from a flatfooted start, closed up rapidly and was wearing Flying Dance down for third place at the finish. Matchtulla was badly shut off and could never recover the lost ground. The others were beaten off. Overweights — Matchtulla, 5 pounds; Cnronia, 4; Charlie Rothschild. 2. Gommell. skillfully and patiently ridden, gradually improved his position and drew out midway of the stretch, but only won when hard pressed. Sugaimaid, injudiciously sent after tlie flying pacemaker ami closing up six lengths in the first quarter, was much urged in an exhaustive effort on the far turn and then succumlied finally to the favorite in a grand effort. Roalta beat tlie barrier a half dozen lengths, but failed to make the most of his advantage and gave way to first one and then another, but came with mother rush at the end and finished wearing the leaders down. Monaco Maid, crowded back early, made up ground steadily in the last half ami finished with a rush. Mill Song ran promi-rontly for a mile. Fury, away pearly, closed a gap. Arcourt tan as if short.
