, INTERESTING RACING AT WASHINGTON. Holscher and T. Burns Win Their First Race of the Year — No Betting Trouble. Washington. D. C. March 24.— The second days racing at Benning was a tremendous improvement over the opening day in the matter of weather, at least. It was a delightful spring day and. though following the opening, the attendance was good. The card was not much, but several good races came out of the indifferent entries. The track had dried consideiably but is still deep and slow. The bettors have not exactly found the range as yet though several of the long shots today WCTC backed, especially Azure Maid. Joes Fast and Holscher were the best backed horses in their races and th ■ books did not have any of the best of it on the whole. jockey McCarthy won half the card, riding ;.•• Fast. Poquessing and Beggarinan. Tommy Burns rode his first winner of the year on Holscher in the last race, this l eing a eWM of two old-timers coming back together. Jockey W. Walker was set down for six days for beating the barrier and br.-aking up several start.; in the Helming First Spring Handicap. There was no interruption of the betting today and no signs of trouble. Sixty books were on and the lietting in several of the races was pretty strong.
