KEENE HORSES BRING BIG PRICES New York September 12 Ten race horpes in training belonging to James R Keene were sold at auction by the FaslgTiptou Company at Sheepshead Bay today Big prices were realized for some of till ran S ranS C Hildreth was the principal buyer paying the top figure of 3700 for Peter Quince and the next best price of 4100 for Uestigouche Peter Quince was first knocked down to E U Bradley for 3500 but Mr Hildrcth disputed the bid and the horse was put up again Bradley raised his last bid to 3000 and stoppedH stopped H It Brandt secured Philander for 3500 Gretna Green went to A Simons for 2300 Mascarada to G Kraus for 1000 Footpad to C U Fleischmann for 1400 Transvaal to F T iMillcn for 1000 and Chapiet WOSelectman to A G Blakeley for WO Selectman and Suffragette were bought in for James H Keene by T Welch for 2000 and 3700 respectively Mr Keeue remarked that excepting Maskette Selectman was the fastesttried twoyearold that lie 4rad 1n his stable but has thus far consistently re ¬ fused to race up to his work The workThe sale realized 2U200 Thirtyseven of J B Haggins yearlings were sold at very low prices the lot bringing a lump sum of 3118 or only an aver ¬ age of about 84 per 1ead It was a poorlooking lot of yearlings The majority of them were small and undeveloped appearing A fullsister to Orna ¬ ment went to F Burlew for 220 A halfsister to High Order was bought by It W McCully for 323 and A G Blakeley gave 250 for a goodlooking bay colt b Geroistein Harmouia
