BEARCATCHER SOLD TO BIANCHI. San Francisco. Cal.. October 2. T. Garnet Ferguson has disposed of the stallion Bearcateher to O. A. Bianchi outright. When Bianchi first took Bear-catcher to stand at his ranch near Sacramento it was under a leasing arrangement by which he was to have the get of the horse for two years. Recently, however, this arrangement was abrogated ami Bianchi bought the horse. The first of the get of Bearcateher are now sucklings and Bianchi declare that they are perfect pictures of their speedy sire. He lielieves from the looks of the youngsters that Bearcateher will be a big success in the stud, and backs his belief In a substantial fashion, having bred all of his mares right back to the son of St. , George this season. Bearcateher also served a number of outside mares this year and numerous of His progeny will come to the races within the next two or three years. Garnet Ferguson has no horses now. but his interest iu racing remains as keen as ever, and he may be seen at the Emeryville track every morning watching the preparation of the horses for the long winter meeting, just as in the days when; Bearcateher. Military Man. The Mighty and other horses were carrying his colors to victory. Jockey Keoghs riding career probably is at an end. Keogh did not return to California with the D. A. Ross stable, having severed his connection with that establishment at Seattle, where he rode with Indifferent success. Trainer Mulholland of the Ross string has his eye on a lad of whom he expects to make a rider during the winter. As Keogh scored only a moderate degree of success during his career as a rider lie retires with no great amount of money to show for his several seasons of saddle service. Increasing weight accounts for the hoys probable retirement. Johnny Millln has named two of his Cunard yearlings. The youngster out of Eonic. a Burns Handicap winner, will be known as Penn. which name was selected out of compliment to the foreman of Mlllins Rancho del Rio. Penn is supposed to be one of the best of the good-looking youngsters in the Millln string. The Orsova gelding will be known as Six.- O." A. Bianchi has had an offer of ,000 for his contract on jockey C. Russell, but seems disposed to hold on to the boy for himself.
