MEXICAN RACING PLANS OUTLINED. Several Leading Cities. Outside of the Capital To Be Included in Scheme. New York. October G. The Mexican government recently granted a group of prominent Mexicans and Amei leans a concession to conduct racing iu Mexico for ton years. The men interested have formed a racing association, which will be known as tin; Mexican Jockey Club, witll Alberto Tcrassas. a grandson of President Diaz and a son-in-law of Enrique Creel, the Mexican ambassador to this country, as president. Thomas H. Williams. J. G. Follansbee and W. II. Kraft are the chief American promoters of the enterprise and heavily interested financially. Some of the members of the local jockey club are also subscribers to the stock. The Mexican Jockey Club hat been capitalized at ?300.000. and its membership will be as exclusive, as anv jockey club in Europe or this country. There will be three months of racing each year between the first of December and the 3ist of April. The probable circuit of cities outside of the capital to be invaded ,by the thoroughbreds being Juarez. Monterey. Pueblo and Chihuahua. The present race track site in the City of Mexico will be remodeled and enlarged into an ellipse of one mile and a quarter in circumference. Races at one mile will be run around only one turn. The Mexican government has promised to subscribe a large sum annually, approximately S30.000. as added money to several big stakes, one of which will be named the Mexican Derby. Only Mexican-bred horses will be eligible after the first year, 1909. There will be a number of big stakes established ranging in value from 5,000 to 0,000 each. It is the intention -of the promoters to conduct the sport on a grand scale and no expense will lie spared to make the race tracks and surroundings equal to any in the world. H. Forsland.
