King Cobalt showed a fine turn of early speed and set a terrific pace, but tired and found the route a bit too far. Royal Onyx ran well and outstayed Belmere after a hard stretch drive. The latter finished fast and gamely under punishment aud was wearing the leader down. Rice struck Momentum across the head with his whip a couple of times when he went to a drive and Nicol claimed foul, but it was not allowed. Infanta got into third place earlv and stayed there.
